Massa Should Be Commended, Not Condemned

Resigning Congressman Eric Massa has got a plethora of issues. No one will dispute that. But the amazing insight that he is providing on his way out paint an extremely disturbing picture of the arm twisting taking place at the hands of Barack Obama and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Massa has given three different versions of the circumstances surrounding his departure. First he said it was for health reasons, then he said it was for inappropriate remarks he made to a member of his staff and most recently he stated that he was forced out by congressional Democrats because he voted against health care reform last year and would likely do so again. The reality is that all three scenarios likely play some role in his decision to depart, but it is the latter that drawing the most attention.

In a radio interview that Massa gave on WKPQ, he stated, "Mine is now the deciding vote on the health care bill. And this administration and this Democratic leadership have said they will stop at nothing to pass this bill. Now they've gotten rid of me and it will pass. You connect the dots."

He also slammed White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, calling him "devil's spawn" who "would sell his own mother."

Massa went on to say, "It makes me weep to know that our country is being destroyed from within, with the absolute BS I have to live with for the past five days, the attempted destruction of my family and the slurs." Wow. Remember, this is a die hard Democratic congressman giving his perspective on the inner workings of the Democratic White House.

Some are labeling his comments as "bizarre". What's so bizarre about them? He has had personal interaction with Emanuel and his citing that interaction. Is it better for him to put his tail between his legs and slink away into obscurity while his name is tarnished? We think not. He is saying that our country is being destroyed from within. That is his perception from being in the trenches of D.C. politics. Instead of being criticized, Massa should be commended for having the courage to go where no man in his position has been willing to go. He knows that Obama is an unequivocal disaster, leading this country down a path to destruction, and he will not sit idly by while it happens. Bravo, Mr. Massa.

What's most disturbing about Massa's comments is that they highlight the lengths that Emanuel and Obama will go to in order to see their unpopular and unrealistic health care agenda forced upon the American people. If one of their own dare stand in the way of the "change", they will go any and every extreme necessary to remove that person from the equation. That should be cause for concern for every person in this country, regardless of political party.
