Reid Needs To Resign

Barack Obama is light skinned...with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.

Now, before you lose your mind at Niagara Times, these are the words used by United State Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, about Obama. Unfortunately, no one is holding Reid accountable for his racist, inflammatory remarks. With a simple phone call to Obama, Reid was forgiven and all was forgotten.

Republicans, rightfully so, are in an uproar about the Democrat's and the media's whitewashing of Reid's comments. Anyone with half a brain knows that if the shoe was on the other foot, if a leading member of the GOP had made the same comments, the Democrats would be savoring at the prospect of crucifying a colleague from the other side of the aisle, and the media would be right there with them, manipulating the minds of Americans who are too stupid to know that they're being manipulated.

We need look no further than the outcome of the Trent Lott fiasco in 2002, when he lost his leadership post after saying that the country would have been better off if Sen. Strom Thurmond, a segregationist, had been elected president in 1948.

Were Lott's comments inappropriate and offensive to some? Absolutely. Did he get what he deserved in the loss of his leadership position? That's not for me to say. But damn it, if Lott lost his leadership position for comments that were interpreted by some to be racially insensitive, Reid should resign for comments that are overtly racist.

Where is Al Sharpton? Where is Jesse Jackson? Julianne Malveaux? Ron Daniels? Jeremiah Wright? Rainbow/PUSH? Mary Frances Berry? Carol Moseley Braun? I'll tell you where, they're MIA, and it's a hypocrisy beyond comprehension. Again, if a member of the GOP had made the same comment as Reid, these people would call on their black brethren to demand retribution.

Unfortunately, it's a double standard that the media not only allows, but drives. The saving grace is that based upon the outcomes of the November elections, the populace is slowly starting to come to the realization that the country is headed down an unprecedented path of destruction under the leadership of the Democrats. Inaction like this on Reid will further illuminate the depth of the Democrat's hypocrisy and deception.
