The Doors Are Opening

The Doors, or should we say Riders On The Storm, are coming to Lockport tonight.

From the Canal Concert website: Doors founding members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger have chosen ex-Fuel lead singer Brett Scallions to front their project Riders On The Storm, filling the void created when The Cult's Ian Astbury departed the group last month. "Brett is on board and we are glad to have him, he has a great voice and a lot of charisma," states keyboardist Manzarek. "Jim Morrison can never be replaced, but this project has never been about that," expressed guitarist Krieger; "It's about giving a voice to the body of work we created with Jim in a live setting."

Brett Scallions departed Fuel in early 2006 after fronting the multi-platinum act for over a decade. The rock band best known for the hit songs Hemmorage, Bittersweet and Shimmer, tried in vain to recruit American Idol's Chris Daugherty as a replacement. Scallions has moved on from the band, and looks forward to working with Manzarek and Krieger. "Having an opportunity to share the stage with these great musicians is more exciting than anything I've ever done. I'm so proud to be a part of this," declared the vocalist.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Doors. The Venice Beach, California, based band released their first record in 1967. In February of 2007 the band was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award and a star of The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

Here's just a little taste of what you can expect to see and hear should you trek to Lockport for the concert this evening:

Great to see Lockport getting some nice outdoor concerts, but for you praise of the doors is really funny. Morrison was arrested for whipping out his Johnson on stage, drank like a fish and did tons of drugs. And now the repubican party saying that he's such a hero, but the poor taxpaying citizen at Harrison is over paid and is getting what he deserves when the company shuts down the plant.

The Doors suck

...at least Lockport has a concert series. Are you listening Larry? Has anybody seen Soos at Lockport's shows?

I don't think the Republican party has taken the position that Jim Morrison is a hero. I am fairly certain he will not be singing at the concert tonight.

All of us in NT sure miss Kathy Paradowski

I'm thinking that there won't be any underage alcohol consumption tonight.

WOW, so u mean that THE DOORS! could have been playing in NT if the concert series wasn't sold! Sweet, let me drive a half an hour to Lockport when I can't afford the gas to drive to work.

don't blame north tonawanda, blame the stupid mayor who sold the concert series. ask him where joan jett is too

You mean to tell me that this wasn`t a set up from the beginning.

No one ever goes to Lockport, unless your in the riot police squad. Let them have a bone, the promoters will end up broke anyway. People from Lockport treat nickels like man-hole covers.

How was that not a set up. I see bars that get busted all the time in the paper for the same thing. Only this time it takes one bust. Come on. We all know why this was done.

Rob,

Why don't you just blame the person you want to blame. Name him, we all know who Mayor Soos is saying had the SLA come down so hard on the promoter.

Have some guts

Rob Clark,

You are a fool for insinuating that it's NOT ok for the police to conduct these types of activities. Police work like this keeps the your adults in our community safe and out of trouble. But I guess you think it "cool" to sell beer to minors.

I think you need to spend more time in your “crack invested” neighborhood and not worry about what happening elsewhere.

You are so out of touch with the people, it not even funny anymore.
Spending $500.00 on a plate for a “no show” function which the majority of folks within your district could not afford or even care about.

Why don’t you start a block club or something – and I can’t believe that you still have “barb wire” in your backyard. Is that to keep the nut jobs in or out?

Tell you what. I'm not parting with another nickel towards anyone's political campaign fund. Your in-fighting BS is not only costing me & my family with taxes, now you're messing with what used to be pretty good quality of life issues -- All to make the other guy look bad. It's frickin obvious you idiots! Screw you guys! Dan, Henry, George, Larry, all you loud mouth supporter hacks. All the wink-wink crap! Not another nickel!

Anonymous...I volunteered to work the " $500.00 on a plate for a no show function ". So I was working it. I did not pay. Besides we still had 30 or more people attend. That’s at least double what the Reporter states.

Maybe I should have been clearer on the busted drinking. Bars are busted all the time. And for good reasons. Is it right to have under age drinking. NO. But to loose your license on one bust.

One more thing, I would watch what you say about my neighborhood. WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN. But, to answer your obnoxious question. Yes a block club is in the works.

Oliver...it was probably Henry and George.

Sure Rob, you take care of your own, does that mean getting all your kids jobs? And when they get smash into cars while driving drunk, this gets covered up too? Good job Rob, wave good bye to Dannelle, she moving for a better job, must be because the repressive taxes from taking care of so many of your own.

I was able to attend a few of the concerts and they were a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I was out of town for this one, which is too bad b/c I loved Fuel primarily for the lead singer's voice. I didn't know he was singing in this band now -- thanks for the info.
Not a Republican here, but I'm assuming that the post is not intended to be a party-wide endorsement of the lifestyle of The Doors. That's a stretch, but nice try! =)

Are you seriously suggesting that this guy's kids are going to have a drunk driving induced accident just b/c you can't win an argument w/ him? That crosses the line and is completely vulgar. Get over yourself -- the guy shot you down on every point and that's the only way you can respond?
