Had an interesting debate with a friend over presidential politics. The question was, putting partisanship aside, who could win and actually not be a disaster versus who could turn into a total disaster.

Non-disaster:
McCain
Hillary

Disaster:
Huckabee
Thompson
Obama
Edwards

Tough call:
Rudy
Romney

Stan, care to give your reasons?

The bumper sticker post is more Niagara CountyGOP partisian BS.

Actually Hil is despised by people of all parties. It's certainly not exclusive to the Niagara County GOP. Good try, though.

Partisan or not, it's pretty funny.

McCain and Hillary would provide competent government with the right people in key positions. Now, you could completely disagree over policy decisions they may make, but the implosion of all that matters would not happen on their watch.

In the disaster category, people forget Obama has zero real foreign policy experience. Thompson just comes across as too lazy and aloof. Never put a personal injury lawyer like Edwards in charge of anything. Huckabee is just such an unknown, who knows.

Rudy and Romney. Both competent executives. Both with good track records. Rudy has some serious skeletons and as one person said to me, "Rudy talks alot about Sept. 11, what the about Sept. 10 when he was the most despised man in NYC." Romney had a good record in MA, but has changed his stripes to appeal to the right and just seems to much from central casting.

It's ashame that we can't even have a little laugh on the political front without everyone becoming so sensitive.

Ok,now we're blaming Senator Clinton for her husband's transgression X-number of years ago? So this means that dubya's coke-sniffing behavior way back whenever and abstentia (oops, I mean, "no record of being there") from the military means his brother will never get to run for president, or his wife will never get to run for, say, mistress of cookie baking? How does Hillary get the blame for WJC's mistake? Oh yes, victim mentality. Don't forget, you can put negative spin out there, and that will just serve to keep her name in the forefront...brand recognition. Much rather have Hill than candidates who will keep us in war for the next 2 decades and beyond. 2008 is already proving to be an angst-creating year! Isn't this exciting!

I love the bumper sticker. Hillary touts herself as a "strong woman". I don't know too many strong women who would take back a husband after what Bill did. I don't want the first female President of the United States to be someone whose husband was fooling around in the White House. I would have more respect for her if she had divorced him and campaigned on her own.
